My new single, "CLAWS," is out now only on Bandcamp until February 14th. Go there to listen, stream, purchase, etc.
"CLAWS" was recorded at my place in Valdez, Alaska. It features guitar work from Carter Woodruff, who plays in our band Cheap Suits along with Kory Maillet. I've asked Carter to play on two songs from How It's Going: “Crack the Sky” and “New Boots" before, to great results. For “CLAWS”, he had never heard the song before playing a guitar track. What you hear is his first time hearing the song and playing an improvised guitar line. It's quite funky and he handled the odd key changes with ease.
"CLAWS" is a barnburner, an old-time funny blues vamp about a specific kind of modern seductive woman: the white claw drinking divorcee at your local watering hole, and all the different claws they carry. Featuring piano, organ, bass and singing by myself and funky lead electric guitar licks by Carter Woodruff, "CLAWS" is meant to be played at the very honky-tonk saloon it takes place in. It's was a fun one to jam out one afternoon, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it.
Thank you for choosing to use Bandcamp to listen to and support my music.
Cheers
Shane Kimberlin
P.S. Big music announcements coming soon.
